Department of Education, University of Calicut (DEUC) was established in1974. Professor. C L Anand was the first Head of the department acted as the founder of the department. Later, he worked as Vice-Chancellor of Rajeev Gandhi University, Itanagar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi and North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. Department of Education, University of Calicut has launched several pioneering courses, made valuable contributions in bringing about reforms in university examination and developed several psychological and educational tools. The two pioneering courses offered in the early years were: Master of College Teaching (MCT) and Master of Education (a vacation course) and Self-financing Course in M.Ed. (Tech).
